The St. Petersburg City Administration, the Russian Ministry of Culture, The Committee of Culture, “LENFILM” Studios, and the International Film Festivals Bureau are pleased to announce the XV ANNUAL IFF “FESTIVAL OF FESTIVALS 2007” to be held in the historic centre of St. Petersburg, during the magical White Nights, between JUNE 23 - 29, 2007. The “FESTIVAL OF FESTIVALS” illustrates Russia’s largest non-competitive festival of recent outstanding works of International and Russian cinema which is licensed under UNESCO. The previous fourteenth edition of the festival has caught the attention of filmmakers in Russia and all over the world and was widely covered by the mass media. “FESTIVAL OF FESTIVALS” is noted for its importance as a means of developing cultural inter-relationships between nations. The role of this St. Petersburg festival as a link between film and the audience, and as a wonderful opportunity for film directors and producers to showcase their pictures in one of the world’s largest cultural centres is priceless. The annual Festival programme is a screening of over 100 films made in numerous countries from around the world. Over 40,000 people make up the annual audience.
The Festival preserves its traditional screening sections as follows:
1. “FESTIVAL OF FESTIVALS” - Screening of latest films (and meetings with their makers) highly appraised or awarded at other IFF’s, 2. “NEW CINEMA OF RUSSIA” - Screening of Russian films shot in 2006-2007, 3. “SHORT METERS” - Films of young directors all over the world 4. “SPECIAL SCREENINGS” 5. “RETROSPECTIVES”
